The beauty of a glass building for the Lazzareschi Foundation

The Palazzo di Vetro, a beautiful all-glass building housing the “Giuseppe Lazzareschi Foundation” was inaugurated on 21st November 2003, in the town of Porcari, Lucca.

Ten years after the death of Mr. Lazzareschi, co-founder together with Emi Sefani of the Sofidel Group, the new foundation’s headquarters was officially inaugurated at the presence of the President of the Italian Senate, Marcello Pera, local authorities and many friends from the world of paper. The ceremony marked the first official step of the newly born Foundation, born from the Lazzareschi family’s precise will to keep Giuseppe’s memory alive. Among the Foundation’s main scopes is to represent a public meeting area for the community of Porcari, where to promote initiatives of a social, entrepreneurial and cultural nature.

The Foundation will also be made available to the world of paper, where Lazzareschi worked, and will contribute to supply a more in-depth knowledge of the field of tissue.

“Porcari is the perfect place for the Palazzo di Vetro,” comments the Foundation. “This town is the birthplace of Giuseppe Lazzareschi and it is here that he established and made his companies prosper.” Among them, also Delicarta and Soffass which, as part of the Sofidel Group, are among the five most important tissue producers in Europe. •
