CMPC bets on Chile!

The investments made by CMPC company in these last years in a variety of fields, despite the difficult Chilean and world economic situation, are evidence of the company’s commitment to its country.

Forestry; the new Puente Alto 95-million dollar facility for corrugated paper; the extension of the Planta Pacifico facility to a production capacity of almost 500,000 tons of cellulose; the second tissue PM installed in Peru; the acquisition of a company which produces corrugated board near Santiago; the large number of initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and safeguarding the existing facilities’ activities are all evidence of the positive investment attitude of CMPC.


UNDERGOING PROJECTS. In 2003, CMPC invested about US$ 235 million to purchase forest lands, with particular interest for eucalyptus, to increase the corrugated board activities and to modernise the cellulose and cardboard fields.

CMPC, ranking level A in the risk classification - according to Standard & Poor’s and others - is one of the best forest, paper and cellulose companies worldwide. Furthermore, it is one of the most important Latin American forest industries and has facilities in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay (in these countries it is market leader) and Peru (where it has an important market share). It is a vertically integrated company and distributes forest products, cellulose, printing and writing paper, cardboard, magazine paper, tissue products, corrugated board boxes and other paper products in over 50 countries in the 5 continents.
