"Le vie del tissue"

A journey through different cultures

Stefano Bortoletto

An extraordinary success for the event organized by “Club Tecnologia e Passione” with the contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, the Associazione degli Industriali di Lucca (Industrialists’ Association) and under the patronage of the Ministry of Economic Development.

Four world delegations took part in the meeting: Japan, Hungary, the United Arab Emirates and Nigeria, the latter received by Nigerian Ambassador Eric Tonye Aworabhi and by the Minister of Political Affairs at the Embassy Ndaman Aliyu. Important regional and local institutional authorities were present, too, among whom the Prefect of Lucca Giovanna Cagliostro, the Alderman of production activities of the province of Lucca Francesco Bambini, Police Commissioner Claudio Cracovia, the Mayor of Lucca Alessandro Tambellini and the mayors of the cities of the Lucca Paper District.

“LE VIE DEL TISSUE” WAS A UNIQUE OCCASION ON AN INTERNATIONAL LEVEL TO MEET,

get to know and exchange opinions on the different Tissue scenarios, as well as to underscore the excellence of each production or distribution system, focusing on aspects such as innovation, peculiarities and curiosities.

Guest countries participated with the following people: Takeo Sano, CEO of Marutomi Paper Manufacturing Co. and Kimihiko Kitahara, Director of Overseas Division World Network Bridge Foundation from Japan; Riad Baloukji, Group Managing Director Boulos Group Lebanon from Nigeria; Helmut Berger, General Manager Abu Dhabi National Paper Mill from the UAE, Attila Kecskemétie Ferenc Bodrogai, CEO Forest Papir Ltd from Hungary. The round table held with European and extra-European managers and entrepreneurs involved in the field constituted an interesting opportunity to acquire important information on the different productions, the use of resources, environmental sustainability, future prospects, and also supplied spurs to analyze the data of the Lucca Paper District that holds about 80% of national tissue paper production and 17% of European production.

The audience had a foundational role during the meeting, with interventions and questions to the speakers, generating an interesting intercultural exchange that traced a general scenario of world production, on the most widely consumed products, on the peculiar characteristics of foreign markets and their distribution systems.
