MIAC 2000

THE MIAC SHOW IS A CONSOLIDATED REALITY.

Perini Journal as present at all of the past six editions and each time has given full details of its growing success. At the end of this year's edition, the impressions collected testify that this event has become part of those fixed calendar dates that Italian tissue field professionals do not want to miss. Producers and converters from the Lucca area find in MIAC a reference point for business contacts and exchange of technical and commercial information.

Many others - national and international technical and service suppliers - find in MIAC the space and the time to present their products and confirm their dedication to a vivaciously market. And if up until now we could speak of growth when speaking about Miac, this year it seems to us that maturity has been attained. And this is for two main reasons. The first is a combination of the variety and quality of the 250 exhibitor companies, the number of visitors, which has almost reached a record 3000, and the success of the 2nd International Congress dedicated to tissue called "Tissue 2000 in Europe and Beyond". The conferences were held on 12 October and chaired by Esko Uutela of EU Consulting (see box). The second is that local authorities, participating at the opening ceremonies, expressed their precise intent to supply the city of Lucca with a Congress Center that can satisfy the growing request for exhibition space and at the same time also result in opportunities for an economic and cultural growth. As citizens and as directly interested in the world of tissue, we hope that bureaucratic routes do not penalize, or paralyze, a lively and interesting situation that has come to be. We are also certain that the organizers will be able to find new stimuli, ideas and contributions to re-launch the show, to make an important step forward in quality, just as up till now they have been able to make the show attain full maturity in such a short time. So, see you at the next edition, the eighth, scheduled for 17, 18 and 19 October 2001, of course, in Lucca.
