TidBits 121: Fascinating paper sculptures by Sher Christopher

The English artist is considered a new and unique artistic voice in contemporary art. The circus, literature, the cinema, music: these are the ambiences that inspire her works.

She chooses heavyweight sheets of paper that are cut using a scalpel, folded and curled on metal rods so that the sculptures are self-supporting. She loves using paper because it comes in infinite varieties and each type is processed differently.

Her every work comes alive with feeling. Props, impressive fringed costumes, hats and fashion accessories are minutely tailored to the point that, looking at her works, we tend to forget they are made of paper!
